Adeptus Health appoints Ricardo Martinez, M.D. as chief medical officer
Dr. Martinez served as CMO for North Highland Worldwide, Federal Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Adeptus Health Inc. has appointed Ricardo Martinez, M.D. their new Chief Medical Officer. The large-scale operator of free-standing emergency rooms made the announcement Friday.
Dr. Martinez is a well-known board-certified emergency physician who has practiced for more than 30 years, and has held senior roles in government, business, academia.
This is not Dr. Martinez's first time in the role of CMO. Dr. Martinez was Chief Medical Officer of North Highland Worldwide Consulting, where Adeptus said a major focus of his work was working with physician leadership to enhance care, building "data-driven patient-centered teams", and driving cultural change.

Dr. Martinez also served as the Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs for the Schumacher Group, a leading emergency medicine practice management company, and was previously appointed Federal Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) by President Clinton.
According to Adeptus, Dr. Martinez was responsible for the development of the Inclusive Trauma System, the EMS Agenda for the Future, and greater integration of emergency care. Additionally, he has been a senior medical advisor to the National Football League since 1988, facilitating medical care, emergency planning, preparedness and public health for The Super Bowl.
