DaVita forms joint venture with kidney hospital in China
DaVita will form a hospital chain with Shunjing Renal Hospital and rename the main facility the DaVita (Shandong) Kidney Disease Hospital.
DaVita Kidney Care on Monday said it has formed a joint venture with a hospital chain in China specializing in kidney care as the global provider of dialysis services continues to expand its reach.
According to DaVita, the partnership is with the Shunjing Renal Hospital located in China's Shandong province. It is the only private hospital in the province approved to offer dialysis.

Under the partnership, DaVita will form a hospital chain with Shunjing Renal Hospital and rename the main facility the DaVita (Shandong) Kidney Disease Hospital.
Xiaoyi Zhang, president Shunjing, will become CEO of the new hospitals.
"We will incorporate DaVita's advanced concepts and technologies in healthcare management with our experience in operating hospitals in the local market," he said in a statement.

DaVita said as many as 120 million people in China may be living with kidney disease, but only 12 percent know of their condition.
DaVita already runs two outpatient centers in China.
Last week, DaVita announced a $415 million takeover competitor Renal Ventures, adding 36 dialysis centers to its stable of facilities in the United States.
