Healthcare adds 34,000 jobs in September, averaging 38,000 a month

Overall, the United States added 142,000 jobs in September, and the unemployment rate held at 5.1 percent.

Healthcare organizations added 34,000 jobs in September, representing a small drop compared to the 41,000 jobs added in August, the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Friday.

So far, healthcare is averaging 38,000 new jobs per month, as the sector continues to be one of the fasting growing in the country.

Overall, the United States added 142,000 jobs in September, and the unemployment rate held at 5.1 percent.

Hospitals led the hiring in September, adding 15,500 jobs, while ambulatory health continued to grow by adding 12,900 jobs in the month.

Physicians offices also posted big gains, adding 6,800 jobs in the month.

No healthcare sector lost jobs in the month.
