Lancaster General accountable care organization partners with Humana
Lancaster General Health Community Care Collaborative will be accessible by the payer’s Medicare Advantage members in the Pennsylvania region.
Lancaster General Health this week struck an accountable care agreement with major insurer Humana in which the system’s ACO, Health Community Care Collaborative, will be accessible by the payer’s Medicare Advantage members in the region.
ACOs operate beyond a traditional fee-for-service model, basing payment in quality of care as a way to improve patient health and rein in costs.

“The value-based healthcare delivery and payment model is a critical evolution in how our health system works, and a much-needed one,” said Rich Vollmer, Humana’s senior markets president for Pennsylvania, in a statement. “This new pay-for-value model, which is in its early stages and quickly growing, fosters quality care, lower costs and a more patient-centric healthcare system.”
