Post Acute Medical to build two Texas rehab hospitals
Market demand in the San Antonio metropolitan area in Texas has prompted Post Acute Medical, a Camp Hill, Pa.-based operator of long-term acute care facilities, to build two new rehabilitation hospitals in the region.
The two hospitals will be part of the Warm Springs Rehabilitation System, which includes a flagship rehabilitation hospital in San Antonio and long-term acute care facilities in Luling and Victoria, Texas, and Covington, La.
"More beds are needed in the San Antonio market to accommodate the volume of patients requesting Warm Springs for rehab care," said Anthony Misitano, CEO of Post Acute Medical.
One of the new facilities, to be based in Westover Hills, Texas, will have two floors with 40 patient beds. Rehabilitation services will include inpatient and outpatient therapy gyms, hydrotherapy and an outdoor therapy area.
The Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital of Westover Hills is a $14.6-million-dollar project provided by Siemens Financial Services, in conjunction with Med Properties Holdings and Mohr Health.
The Curtis Group Architects will design the hospital, while Rogers-O'Brien Construction has won the construction contract. Construction is slated to begin in early February, with a targeted completion date of December 2011.
The second facility, a 34-bed rehab hospital located in the Thousand Oaks area of San Antonio, is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2011. Misitano said plans are under way for a complete renovation of the buildings, with room on the campus for special needs and community support groups.
