Get your healthcare at Walmart!

Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, Ky., part of the Baptist Healthcare System, has announced it will open two new Baptist Express Care locations in Walmart stores this month. As changes to healthcare continue to occur across the country, we will begin to see more of these options that really cater to patients.

The express health clinics are open seven days a week and providers will treat common health ailments and offer routine services. Patients will not need appointments.

“Anyone who’s had a child develop an earache after hours or on the weekend will appreciate the convenience of having a medical professional available nearby,” officials with the hospital say.

The care will be provided by experienced nurse practitioners. Cash, check, credit cards and most forms of insurance will be accepted and prices for services will be posted at each location. Imagine that, posting the cost of each service. This transparency is needed across the healthcare industry.

“This clinic is another example of providing patients with innovative solutions to their basic healthcare needs,” said Baptist East President David Gray. Once these new healthcare clinics open, there will be 131 in-store clinics in Walmart stores across 28 states.

Let us know what you think about these new options. As a patient, are you pleased to see this change and an emphasis on more convenience?
