Phoenix-based Banner Health has named Amy Perry as the health system's new CEO.
Currently Banner's president, Perry will become both CEO and president after the retirement of Peter S. Fine, who was appointed CEO and president in 2000.
Fine will retire on June 30 and will be succeeded by Perry, the health system's Board of Directors announced on Tuesday. Fine will also resign from the board and serve as CEO Emeritus through January 2025, providing advisory assistance to the Board and Perry.
Perry joined Banner as its president and chief operating officer in November 2021, and played a critical role in leading Banner through the last significant wave of COVID-19 and subsequent organizational recovery, according to a released statement.
Prior to joining Banner health, Perry served as Atlantic Health System's executive vice president and CEO of the Hospital Division. Perry formerly served as executive vice president at LifeBridge Health in Baltimore, and had a 20-year career at Mount Sinai Health System in Miami.
Fine became president and chief executive officer of Banner in 2000, shortly after its formation and led Banner from its roots as a hospital system to its identity today as a fully integrated healthcare enterprise, the health system said.
"I am honored and deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead this remarkable health system and outstanding team who sincerely care about advancing health for the communities we serve," Perry said. "With Banner's One Team culture, we are transforming health care access and affordability. Leaning into technology and innovation, Banner will define safety, trusted relationships, best-in-class care and affordable coverage. I would like to recognize Peter for his tremendous accomplishments and thank the entire Banner Board for their support and partnership."
Banner Health is a secular, mission-driven nonprofit healthcare system with 30 acute-care hospitals in six states.
