The Cleveland Clinic and Amazon One Medical are collaborating on primary care clinics in Northeast Ohio.
Amazon One Medical said it would open its first primary care office in affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic next year, offering same and next-day appointments, onsite lab services and virtual care support for members.
Amazon One Medical will provide the offices, appointments and time between patients and their providers.
Amazon One Medical is a hybrid virtual and in-person primary care organization.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Cleveland Clinic and Amazon One Medical will determine where to open new facilities over the next several years.
The new relationship allows patients to access Cleveland Clinic's network of specialists, hospitals and facilities.
Members can get virtual care services through the Amazon One Medical mobile app, including on-demand video visits, secure provider messaging, "Treat Me Now" digital assessments for common health concerns, easy vaccine and medical record access, prescription renewals, and proactive reminders for follow-up care and referral needs.
THE LARGER TREND
Amazon One Medical works with over 10,000 employers throughout the U.S. who sponsor membership fees as a benefit for their employees and their dependents.
Amazon One Medical is a membership-based and technology-powered primary care organization. 1Life Healthcare is the administrative and managerial services company for the affiliated One Medical physician-owned professional corporations that deliver medical services, in-office and virtually.
ON THE RECORD
"This collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment from both organizations to meet the needs of our patients and to enhance the care we provide to our communities," said Dr. Tom Mihaljevic, Cleveland Clinic CEO and president. "Amazon One Medical will complement our current primary care offerings, enabling patient access to essential health services."
