The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are calling for new measures and activities for consideration for the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System of MACRA's Quality Payment Program.

MIPS is one of the tracks that providers can choose to follow that will decide their reimbursement for services rendered to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries under the MACRA rule.

The deadline to submit proposed measures for consideration is June 30, 2017. CMS is asking clinicians, measure stewards, organizations and other stakeholders to submit measures for categories including Quality, Advancing Care Information and Improvement Activities.

"Measures and activities should be relevant, reliable, and valid at the individual clinician level. To be considered, proposals must include measure specifications, related research, and background," CMS said in a statement.

The final list of measures for those participating in MIPS will be published in the Federal Register by November 1 of the year prior to day one of the performance period.
