Former Optum executive Amir Dan Rubin named president and CEO of One Medical

One Medical has grown from one to 60 offices in eight regional markets offering members access to a 24-hour virtual medical team and email support.

Amir Dan Rubin, a former Optum executive, has been named president and CEO of One Medical, a primary care practice that has grown its business model of offering patients 24-hour virtual care and email follow up.

Rubin will begin his new role on August 7.

At Optum, which is part of UnitedHealth Group, Rubin served as executive vice president and divisional CEO overseeing a number of business lines.

Prior to Optum, Rubin served as president and CEO of Stanford Health Care Center where he helped raise quality scores, grew a network of care settings and helped to advance digital health and corporate partnerships in the Silicon Valley, according to One Medical.

He previously served as chief operating officer for the UCLA Health System.

"I'm so excited to come on board to help transform healthcare through One Medical's innovative model for delivering healthier patients with highest levels of service and engagement," Rubin said.

One Medical founder Tom X. Lee, MD, will assume the executive chairman role where he will continue to provide strategic leadership and guidance, the organization said.

Under Lee's leadership, One Medical has grown from a single office in San Francisco to 60 offices in eight regional markets including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

One Medical is affiliated with 1Life Healthcare, a technology and management services company. Its business model serves consumer and employer membership, working with more than 1,000 companies. Members have access to 24-hour virtual medical team and email support.
