In a bid to help increase clinical and operational efficiencies, GE HealthCare will be entering into a collaboration with OSF HealthCare, an integrated health system in Illinois and Michigan, and Pointcore, a healthcare management and nonclinical shared services company.

In addition to increasing efficiency, the aim is to standardize care delivery models and improve patient outcomes across OSF HealthCare.

The alliance, according to the organizations, will leverage GE HealthCare's expertise and technology, as well as Pointcore's experience managing nonclinical matters for hospitals and clinics. OSF said it also supports its mission of delivering exceptional care.

WHAT'S THE IMPACT?

One of the key pillars of the collaboration, the organizations said, is a foundational alliance that includes investment in new technology systems, digital tools and resources, service and support across a variety of care areas, including nuclear medicine, oncology and radiology.

Another pillar: A new approach to investment in innovation that uses advanced analytics to streamline capital management and allow OSF HealthCare to reinvest in care for patients. As part of this approach, OSF HealthCare will be one of the first healthcare systems in the U.S. to implement GE HealthCare's new version of Digital Expert Access with remote scanning. This is the first FDA-cleared device to enable remote patient scanning on GE HealthCare Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) devices, according to the organizations.

This new technology can bridge multiple locations, users and devices remotely. It can allow technologists to share knowledge and make decisions quickly, reducing wait times and care disruption for patients, the organizations said.

The companies expect to explore ways to scale their approach to drive greater access to personalized care for more patients. The alliance will concentrate on enhancing precision care in oncology by identifying clinical and technological opportunities that can help accelerate integrated cancer care.

THE LARGER TREND

The parties said they'd work together to build pathways that deliver precise care through customized solutions in radiation oncology and theranostics for diseases like prostate cancer.

Collaboration activities will begin in the spring with the launch of the OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute in Peoria, Illinois.

ON THE RECORD

"In the rapidly changing world of healthcare, this strategic collaboration between OSF HealthCare, Pointcore and GE HealthCare means that we can ensure our Mission Partners (employees) have the right technology at the right place at the right time, fundamentally changing the way we deliver care to over one million patients each year," said Jim Mormann, CEO of OSF HealthCare Integrated Solutions and Pointcore.
