Henry Ford Health System and GoHealth Urgent Care are teaming up to operate urgent care centers across southeastern Michigan.
Three Henry Ford Macomb Urgent Care centers in Fraser, Chesterfield and Bruce Township will transition to the new joint venture this year, and multiple new sites are expected to open in 2022, according to the organizations.
Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care centers will treat patients ages six months and older, providing urgent care for non-life-threatening illnesses or injuries, on-site X-ray services and COVID-19 evaluation and testing.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Henry Ford providers will continue to manage and deliver clinical care in all centers.
The services offered are for virtual or in-person care, capitalizing on the advancement of telehealth since COVID-19 made virtual care a necessity.
The Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care partnership combines the system's large provider network to GoHealth's technology-enabled operations and workflows.
Customers will be able to walk in or go online to check wait times, save their spot online and pre-register.
THE LARGER TREND
Urgent care centers have been giving patients convenient access to services. Providers have been competing against pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreen for primary care services.
GoHealth has many partnerships with health systems and operates more than 165 on-demand care centers across the country. It is a portfolio company of TPG Growth, the middle-market and growth-equity investment platform of TPG, which manages more than $103 billion worth of assets.
