Mattel donates $50 million to UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital
The toy company's gift is the largest ever made to the California hospital.
Toy giant Mattel will fund an expansion of the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital through a $50 million donation to UCLA Health, Mattel announced Monday.
The company has partnered with the system for more than 20 years, providing more than $80 million to UCLA in support of the university and healthcare system. The $50 million donation is the largest ever made to the UCLA hospital, Mattel said.
The donation "enables the hospital to build a kids-only system of care, ensuring the child's experience remains the No. 1 focus through facilities designed with patients and families in mind," Mattel said.

The donation will also help the hospital continue to improve outcomes, ensure staff are trained specifically to engage with and treat kids, and to incorporate play and health in treatment as a means to comfort pediatric patients.
The hospital's logo has been revised to reflect the partnership between Mattel and UCLA Health.
UCLA Health includes Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center; UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica; UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital; and Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA, as well as over 160 primary care and specialty clinics throughout Southern California.
