Tech firm launches contest to find the best ICD-10 coders
Central Learning will give $5,000 for the inpatient coder with highest average accuracy and productivity scores across 10 inpatient cases.
Central Learning is running an online ICD-10 coding contest that promises $5,000 to three medical coders. The "Code your way to $5K" contest is open to U.S. medical coders and has three divisions:
- $5,000 for the inpatient coder with highest average accuracy and productivity scores across 10 inpatient cases.
- $5,000 for the emergency department coder with highest average accuracy and productivity scores across 30 outpatient cases.
- $5,000 for the ambulatory surgery coder with highest average accuracy and productivity scores across 30 outpatient cases.

The accuracy and productivity scores is calculated using Central Learning's systems.
The deadline to enter is Sept. 15 but contestants have until Oct. 1 to complete the contest cases.
Coding managers can register their teams and get reports on how each individual scored -- giving them a snapshot of coding performance. This contest looks like a huge demonstration of how Central Learning's platform works.
