Minneapolis-based Information technology company ABILITY Network has purchased ShiftHound, a cloud-based healthcare workforce management solutions provider that offers scheduling and other operational applications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Shifthound offers solutions which allow clients to better manage shift-based provider schedules, track and analyze individual clinician work hours, and define and track required certifications, licenses, mandatory training and education.

These solutions ensure compliance, cut overtime costs and boost quality and increase operational efficiency, ABILITY said. For their part, ABILITY provides applications and analytics that assist with revenue cycle management, clinical management and performance improvement.

ShiftHound, which is based in San Diego, will become an ABILITY Center of Excellence. Shifthound's employees will join the ABILITY team.

"Providers need to not only understand the acuity of their patient populations, but bridge that understanding into how they staff. Optimizing this balance in staffing is critical to care quality, compliance with licensing and credential requirements, and a provider's bottom line," ABILITY said in a statement.
