OSF HealthCare to purchase 2 Presence Health Illinois hospitals

OSF HealthCare will purchase two hospitals from Illinois system Presence Health The two organizations have signed a letter of intent outlining plans for OSF to take ownership of Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana and Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois, the two systems announced.

The deal is expected to close during the first quarter of calendar year 2018. Both systems are working together to ensure a seamless transition for patients, associates, physicians and other stakeholders.

Presence Covenant Medical Center is located in Urbana. It has 206 beds and more than 700 employees. Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville has 174 beds and more than 550 employees.

Peoria, Illinois-based OSF HealthCare is owned and operated by The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. OSF HealthCare includes 11 hospitals and two colleges of nursing throughout Illinois and Michigan. They are affiliated with the University of Illinois. Its physician network employs nearly 1,200 physicians and advanced practice providers.

Presence Health is a Catholic health system serving more than 4 million people in 11 counties. The system includes 12 hospitals, over 17,700 associates and more than 4,000 medical professionals and has annual revenue of $2.6 billion.
