Select Medical, Cleveland Clinic Edwin Shaw rehabilitation hospital opens doors to patients

Facility boasts 60 private rooms, state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment to treat patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord, and brain injury.

Select Medical Corp. and Cleveland Clinic on Tuesday opened the third in a line of new rehabilitation hospitals.

Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospital, Edwin Shaw in Bath Township, Ohio, boasts 60 private rooms and state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment to treat patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation, neurological disorders and orthopedic issues. Edwin Shaw patients will be treated by comprehensive care teams led by physicians that also include nurses and physical, occupational, and speech-language therapists among others.

The partnership originated three years ago with the goal of advancing post-acute care services. This third facility means there are now 180 beds across the system to treat patients with conditions like stroke, spinal cord and brain injuries.

The first two locations, Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospital, Avon and Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospital, Beachwood opened in December 2015 and October 2017, respectively.
