CHS subsidiary buys urgent care centers in Arizona
Northwest Healthcare has invested an estimated $200M in capital projects throughout the Greater Tucson Metro area.

Community Health Systems subsidiary Northwest Urgent Care has completed the acquisition of urgent care centers owned and operated by Carbon Health in Arizona.
The Tucson, Arizona CHS subsidiary is part of Northwest Healthcare's integrated network serving Tucson and surrounding communities. Northwest Healthcare now has more than 80 sites of care across the network, according to CHS.

Over the past five years, Northwest Healthcare has invested an estimated $200 million in strategic growth and capital projects throughout the Greater Tucson Metro area.
This includes hospitals Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita and Northwest Medical Center Houghton.
THE LARGER TREND
Other strategic deals for CHS include the sales of hospitals to help reduce an estimated $11 billion in debt.
Last week, CHS said a $120 million deal to sell three hospitals in Pennsylvania to Woodbridge Healthcare would not be moving forward due to WoodBridge's inability to satisfy the funding requirements. The three hospitals included Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
On Friday, Nov. 22, Community Health Systems announced it would sell ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte, in Port Charlotte, Florida, and ShorePoint Health Punta Gorda, in Punta Gorda, Florida, and certain ancillary businesses to subsidiaries of Adventist Health System Sunbelt Healthcare Corporation for $265 million in cash.
The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025.
In October, CHS reported net loss for the quarter attributable to Community Health Systems stockholders was $391 million, compared to $91 million for the same period in 2023. Third-quarter results were impacted by a continued increase in denials, downgrades by insurers and also the financial impact of two back-to-back hurricanes.
Community Health Systems in Franklin, Tennessee, is among the nation's largest for-profit healthcare providers, operating in 15 states. The company's subsidiaries own or lease 70 affiliated hospitals.
