Acquisition enhances MEDITECH expertise
Worldwide information technology outsourcing firm Perot Systems plans to acquire J.J. Wild, Inc. for $89 million. Canton, Mass.-based J.J. Wild is the preferred provider of integrated healthcare delivery solutions for hospitals and other healthcare organizations using the MEDITECH Healthcare Information System.
Perot executives announced the agreement yesterday.
The acquisition is expected to boost Perot's MEDITECH proficiency and will enable Perot to expand its service offerings to more hospitals in Europe as well as in the United States.
Among the hospitals that recently went live with MEDITECH systems are St. Anthony's Hospital in North Cheam, England, and Hermitage Medical Clinic in Dublin, Ireland.
"JJWild enjoys a great reputation, has talented people, and long-term customer relationships, all of which make them an excellent addition to Perot Systems' healthcare industry group," said Perot CEO Peter Altabef.
JJ Wild employees will join Perot Systems after the acquisition.
Altabef noted that more than 2,000 hospitals in the United States, Canada and in international markets use Westwood, Mass.-based MEDITECH's clinical and financial management technology.
"JJWild is a great strategic and cultural fit for Perot Systems," said
Chuck Lyles, president of Perot Systems' healthcare industry group. "JJWild brings deep healthcare industry expertise, dedicated MEDITECH competencies, and an unwavering commitment to its customers."
As for JJ Wild, its CEO, Sal Lanuto, said becoming part of Perot Systems would enable JJ Wild to grow more quickly than it could have on its own.
MEDITECH's president and COO Howard Messing also hailed the move, saying the combined company would provide broader capabilities.
JJWild is forecast to record revenue of $80 million to $90 million in 2007, and about $30 million will be consolidated over the remainder of the year, including $8 million in the third quarter, Perot executives said. Perot Systems, in the quarter ended June 30, increased healthcare revenue 16 percent. The company's stated strategy on the healthcare front is to expand its geographic footprint and also the services it offers.
