Promotions, hires and fires for the week ending November 22, 2013

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas has named Jack Towsley as divisional senior vice president for the company's Texas Health Care Delivery segment. Previously, he served as senior vice president, payor relations for Health Management Associates.

CVS Caremark appointed Tracy Bahl to the position of executive vice president, health plans. He previously spent 10 years at UnitedHealth Group where he served as the CEO of the Uniprise division.

Manet Community Health Center has hired Gail Covelluzzi, a certified public accountant, as its CFO. Previously, Covelluzzi held the same position at East Middlesex ARC.

Huron Consulting Group announced that William T. Foley has rejoined the company as a managing director in its Huron Healthcare practice. He rejoins the company from Vanguard Health Systems where he served as president of the Chicago market.

Healthline announced the appointment of Healthline founder and former COO Dean Stephens to the post of CEO. He has been serving as interim CEO since the beginning of the year.

DaVita HealthCare Partners announced transitions within the executive leadership team of its HealthCare Partners business unit. Matthew Mazdyasni, executive vice president and CFO, will resign by early 2014 and Craig Samitt, MD, executive vice president, and Dennis Kogod, chief operating officer, will both expand their roles.

Skilled Healthcare Group announced that Robert H. Fish has been appointed as CEO and as a member of its board of directors. Prior to joining the company, he served as chairman of REACH Medical Holdings.

Diane Laird has been named chief strategy officer for MemorialCare Health System. She is currently CEO of Greater Newport Physicians and Nautilus Healthcare Management Group.

Steve Mackin has been named chief operating officer for Cancer Treatment Centers of America. He formerly served as president and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southwestern Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
