The Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital in Christiansted, Virgin Islands, recently named Tim Lessing as its new CFO.

The hire, according to the St. Croix Source, will put the facility on track as the U.S. territory’s medical center complies with mandates from the U.S. Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to retain its certification.

Lessing comes to the hospital from Louisiana where he most recently served as the CFO of the 223-bed St. Tammany Parish Hospital. While there, Standard & Poor’s upgraded the hospital’s long-term bond rating from BBB to A, citing strong financial leadership as one of the reasons for the upgrade.

Previous to St. Tammany, Lessing served as the CFO at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru, Indiana and has 20-plus years in the healthcare finance field. Lessing also served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard
