National Surgical Healthcare buys Optim Healthcare, manager of orthopedic critical access hospital
Optim operates a critical access hospital in Reidsville, Georgia, as well as an ambulatory center in Savannah.

Chicago-based National Surgical Healthcare, which runs surgical hospitals, said last week it plans to acquire a majority stake in Savannah, Georgia-based Optim Healthcare, a health system focusing on orthopedic medicine.
Monetary terms of the deal were not announced.

Optim, which operates a critical access hospital in Reidsville, Georgia, as well as an ambulatory center in Savannah, is managed by 27 physicians, all with a stake in the business, and contracts with 20 other physicians in its network. Optim also manages seven outpatient physical and occupational therapy clinics, two imaging centers and eight rural health clinics and treated more than 62,000 patients in 2014.
The deal would mark the first Georgia entry for NSH, which runs 19 surgical facilities across the United States.
