ICD-10 is a little more than two months away, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is teaming up with two major medical associations to help healthcare providers get ready.
On August 27, CMS will broadcast a live conference call with Sue Bowman from the American Health Information Management Association and Nelly Leon-Chisen from the American Hospital Association, updating providers on the latest news regarding ICD-10 implementation and offering coding tips from both the AHA and AHIMA.

Recently, CMS announced that it would not deny claims for a year after the rollout based on ICD-10 errors, as long as providers use the right code family. The announcement came with the American Medical Association's backing, a shocking turn since the AMA has spent years fighting the rollout.
The ICD-10 coding vocabulary contains nearly 70,000 codes, a huge jump from the 17,000 under the current ICD-9 set.
