Gartner's top 25 healthcare supply chain organizations announced
For the third year in a row, healthcare services company Cardinal Health took the top spot of Gartner’s Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25.
In its fifth year, the Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25 seeks to identify organizations that are transforming the supply chain in such as way as to lower costs while helping to improve patient outcomes.
“Cardinal uniquely brings together, under one ownership structure, an expanding global presence and increasing vertical integration in the form of a manufacturer, medical surgical distributor, international sourcing company, pharmaceutical wholesaler and retail pharmacy along with a myriad of other services,” said Gartner is a press release announcing the ranking results.
Rounding out the top five are Mayo Clinic, Owens & Minor, Intermountain Health Care and McKesson.
Trends revealed by this year’s ranking include continued consolidation adding complexity to the supply chain; enabling profitable through the supply chain by instituting a supply chain vision and solidly executing that vision; and building fundamental capabilities, including the ability to correlate supply chain cost and service data, patient outcomes and quality data.
