PwC tops consulting firms in new KLAS analysis
All of the firms studied appear to do well in estimating the total cost of ownership for the various vendors and systems.
PricewaterhouseCoopers ranked the highest among consulting firms when it came to delivering the best overall value to providers, according to new data released by KLAS.
PwC scored an 8.8 on a 9-point scale measuring the value of engagement, well above the market average. Three other firms -- ECG (Kurt Salmon), Impact Advisors and Leidos Health -- also scored above average, each achieving an 8.6 on the scale. Chartis Group was found to be right at the market average with an 8.3, while Encore and Deloitte performed below average on this particular measure, Deloitte brought up the rear with a 7.2 ranking.
PwC also scored a perfect 100 percent when it came to its clients reporting them as completely objective. ECG (Kurt Salmon) also scored 100 percent on this metric. Its customers say ECG makes an extra effort to be objective, and customers of ECG have chosen a wider variety of electronic health record vendors than customers of other consulting firms.

Comparing firms' breadth of consulting, as validated by KLAS, also showed PwC at the top of the heap, with an overall score of 96, followed by Impact Advisors at 95.7 percent and Chartis Group at 93.3 percent.
All of the firms studied appear to do well in estimating the total cost of ownership for the various vendors and systems their clients are considering. However, the provider feedback showed a common thread: The firms are, understandably, only so good at predicting the future.
Encore is noted for the thoroughness of its estimates and its use of other customers' experiences to catch costs that might otherwise be missed. ECG (Kurt Salmon) is noted for flexible, effective processes that cater to the needs of their clients, but their expertise is rated just at the market average.
Customer feedback regarding PwC's expertise and processes is limited; what has been shared is positive. Customers describe PwC as experts in the process for selecting an acute care EHR vendor and define its process as very thorough. Deloitte and Leidos Health fall behind the other firms when it comes to their processes. While Deloitte has great knowledge of acute care EHRs, they struggle to define a process for identifying and solving customers concerns, according to KLAS.
Impact Advisors and Chartis Group do well with expertise, though they're below the market average. Impact Advisors is still branching out from the acute care EHR space and trying to develop the market knowledge providers are looking for. But they do have effective processes in place to move providers forward, according to KLAS.
