Healthcare adds 28,000 jobs in July as hiring slows
While hospital hiring picked up, ambulatory and nursing centers lagged.
The U.S. healthcare industry added 28,000 jobs in July, a drop from 40,000 jobs added in June, as hiring in the sector continued through the summer months.
The news came as the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics said the country added 215,000 jobs in total. The July unemployment rate also held flat at 5.3 percent.
According to the DOL, hospitals led with hiring, adding 15,700 jobs in the month. As with prior months, ambulatory centers also posted high growth, with facilities adding 8,900 jobs in the month. That number was far less than the 22,000 jobs ambulatory centers added in June.
